What is a GIA Certificate?
GIA is a non-profit organization which is an independent entity.
GIA conducts extensive research on gems, maintains the quality standards for gems and educates the gem professionals and jewelers. Their basic function is to grade the diamond quality. If a person has been to the shopping of a diamond, then he or she would know that there are 4C’s of GIA. These 4C’s include clarity, color, cut, and carat weight of gems. GIA has maintained different scientific techniques to measure all of these 4C’s and grading terminology.
One thing must be noted that the GIA does not commercially sell, buy or trade diamonds and they don’t mine diamonds.
The GIA organization also doesn’t appreciate diamond pricing or its value in any way. Their goal is to just grade them and evaluate their quality on an objective level.
Once you go for buying a diamond, you should go for the GIA graded diamonds and you must know the quality of these diamonds along with the GIA report that comes along with these diamonds. Not all diamonds are GIA graded, although some people would say that they are tested for quality but don’t believe them and ask them to see the GIA report. The GIA reports contain a specific number for each GIA graded diamond which is also inscribed at the diamond somewhere. This unique number is in the GIA’s online global report database and you can check for further details.
GIA doesn’t certify any gems or diamonds as it only grades them.
But commonly used words for GIA graded diamonds are “GIA certified or GIA cert”. They just evaluate diamonds and grade them based on 4C and write up a report on the results. The pricing and value of any diamond are further done among jewelers.
The GIA maintains their objectivity by ensuring anonymity.
When a diamond has arrived at their lab, it is then placed in a transparent box and all the reference details are removed from it. Only a bar code is allotted to every box and it is used to track all the process. The diamond inside the box is tested through different scientific methods and cleared for its authenticity. The whole process is done impartially. During the procedural testing, the tests reveal that what type of treatment has been performed on this diamond.
The GIA grading reports give confidence to the buyer and the jeweler as well.
It shows that the diamond is authentic, and this certification can be used for insurance. https://designbysevan.com/how-to-buy-perfect-diamond-and-how-you-compare-diamond-price/
